Golf Swing Power is the result of three specific factors:

– Swing Mechanics

– Golf Strength

– Golf Equipment

Swing Mechanics

All golfers are aware of how important the mechanics of the swing are when it comes to driving the ball down the fairway. Good swing mechanics are essential. If you are over the top with your swing or come inside too much, you’ll see that dreaded slice of snap hook. The drives will be short, too low, too high, left, right, or any combination of these if you are putting bad swings on the ball.

It is essential for a golfer to work on the mechanics of his swing, week in and week out, to improve his game.

If swings mechanics weren’t that important, why would tour players in the world – have swing coaches working with them on a consistent basic? The golf swing is such a find, mechanically complex movement; it requires constant work to keep it highly efficient.

On of the most common mistakes amateurs make is ignoring the availability of golf instruction. Amateurs’ pound balls week in and week out at driving ranges without any improvement.

And we all know all types of improper golf swing lead to frustration and bad rounds of golf.

Golf Strength (Golf Fitness)

Golf strength is a term we use to describe the golf fitness level of an individual as it pertains to swinging a club.

The mechanics of the golf swing there require specific levels of flexibility, balance, stability, strength, endurance and power to perform it. Efficiently. If you body does not have the required capacities then what will the result will be? A less than optimal swing, and a less efficient swing than possible.

Essentially, you body supports your swing much like a foundation supports the house you build upon it. And many amateurs develop their swings on a “foundation of sand”

It is a common sight: people practicing at the range who struggle because their bodies are limiting what they can do with their swing. Optimal swing mechanics and the proper levels of “golf strength” in the body should go hand-in-hand. One without the other is going to leave you short when it comes to your potential in the game.

The props are all aware of the importance of golf strength, why not you?

Golf Equipment

We have come to the final point, and that is equipment. Majority of golfers are aware of the technological advances that have occurred in golf equipment over the last 20 years. Think about the 1980s when we were still playing with woods that actually had wood in them! And now we are using drivers with space-age faces that shoot the ball off them at warp speed.

What a lot of people do not realize is that the USGA has set standards on how “hot” driver faces can be and how “fast” balls can come off the face of drivers. Most clubs are reaching this limit, and anything past these USGA rules becomes illegal to play. So what does that tell us?

Club manufacturers have done a great job in the advancement of technology; and

To increase the distance of your drives you are now going to have to turn to topics one and two above – swing mechanics and golf strength.

Bottom-line, how do you improve your power? It comes down three simple ideas. Number one is improving your golf swing mechanics. Improved mechanics will improve your driving distance. Number two is improving your golf strength. By improving your body as it pertains to the golf swing, you will improve your distance off the tee. Finally, equipment does make a difference, if you hit the ball correctly.

Take this golf instruction to the range to help you develop more power in your golf swing.

Happy practicing!!

1. Set Your Goals And Expectations

What is it that you expect from your lessons? And where do you intend to take your game? By answering these questions before you embark on lessons, this can help set up a framework by which you will learn. Understand your limitations, know what you hope to achieve, and discuss it with your coach to pla a programme that will meet your goals and expectations.

2. Find a Coach That Suits You

Golf teachers and their techniques differ widely. Som try to teach a particular swing, others work with what you have (unless you have nothing) to help you be a better play. Find someone who undersands what you’re looking for and can provide a strategy to help you find the solutions. Most of all, get a coach you can communicate with. You can’t afford to pay good money for advice that gets lost in translation.

3. Practice, Practice, Practice

The best golf advice from the best golf teacher in the world will come to nothing if you don’t practise what he preaches. Don’t samp yourself with information from lessons, only to let it dwindle into oblivion without practice.

Take your tips to the range, forcus on the little fundamentals and, before long, with practice, it should all come together nicely.

4. Enjoy Learning and Playing

Find time to learn and apply what you learned from your golf guru. You will began to learn how the little tips that the teacher give will help you improve. Don’t be afraid to try new techniques you acquired. It just need a little more time for you to get use to changes to improve.

Happy Golfing.

The next time when you’re preparing to play in your local club championship, your frame of mind can contribute a lot to the outcome of your game. Always keep in mind that you have it in you to win the game. It will do wonders for your play and you will definitely be richer by the experience at the end of the day.

Here are 10 winning rules you can applied in your prepartion and during the competition.

1. BELIEVE YOU CAN WIN. – Get into the competition and believe you’ll be the champion golfer.

2. Don’t be Seduced By Results- It means not allowing yourself to be seduced by a score or by winning until you run out of holes. Instead, you get lost in the process of executing each shot and accept the result.

3. Sulking Won’t Get You Anything. -If you start feeling sorry for yourself or thinking the golf gods are conspiring against you, you’re not focused on the next shot. The worst thing you can do for your prospects of winning is to get down when things don’t go well. Don’t let this kind of thoughts get into your mind.

4. Beat Them With Patience.- Every time you have the urge to make an aggressive play, go with the more conservation one. You’ll always be okay. In a tournament, the rough is thicker, the pins are tougher, and the greens are faster. The moment you get impatient, bad things happen.

5. Ignore Unsolicited Swing Advice.- You’ll have lots of well-meaning friends who want to give you advice. Don’t accept it. In fact, stop them before they can say a word. Their comments will creep into your mind when you’re on the course. If you’ve worked on your game, commit to the plan and stay confident.

6. Embrace Your Golf Personality. – Players like Anthony Kim love to socialise on the course. Others like Retief Goosen keep to themselves. The key is to find what works best for you. You need to work on your mental and emotional to stay as the toughest player in the field.

7. Have a Routine to Lean on. – During competition it is always helpful to follow a mental and physical routine on the very shot. It keeps you focused on what you have to do. And when the pressure is on, it helps you manage your nerves.

8. Find Peace on The Course. – When you practice hard and admit to yourself that you really want to win, it’s easy to build up a tournament into something so huge that you can’t play. Don’t arrive two hours before tee time and try to rebuild your golf swings. Don’t become panicked practicers and try to perfect every area of your game. It will ruin your entire game for the day. The golf course has to be your sanctuary, the thing you love, and you can’t be afraid of messing up.

9. Test Yourself In Stroke Play. – Having play golf for over 30 years, I’m a big believer that stroke play is real golf. I know lots of people who are good in matches who can’t play a lick at stroke play. But most guys who are good at stroke play also thrive in matches. When you have to count every shot, it’s a tougher game. Stroke play makes you mentally tough.

10. Find Someone Who Believe In You.- Every champion needs that. Hogan once considered quitting golf several times early in his career because he didn’t think he was providing for his wife the way he should. But his wife, Valerie wouldn’t let him quit. She knew he’d never be satisfied until he won a Majors. Having confidence in yourself is important, but it helps to have someone who believes in you, whether it’s a spouse, a friend, a teacher, or even a sport psychologist.

———————————————————————————————

The game of golf is truly an individual sport. The basics are the same for everyone; however, due to the differences in people’s body types no two people will ever have the same golf swing. Each person will have to adapt their bodies to perform a proper golf swing in their own way. Taking the time to develop your own method of playing golf will greatly improve your enjoyment and success at the game. Practicing the basic fundamentals of the game until they are ingrained in your muscles will lead to confidence on the course, and that confidence will lead to success and enjoyment of the game.

One of the most basic steps that you can put into action and see an immediate improvement to your golf swing is to keep your head still and look straight at the ball. The position of your head should be straight in line with your spine, and your nose should be raised up a bit so that when you start to swing, your left shoulder fits under your chin. Many players tuck their heads into their chests to try and keep their heads still and look straight down at the golf ball. Unfortunately, they cannot perform a proper golf swing while in this position.

If you are one of the many that are having difficulty keeping your head straight and an eye on the ball try the following. The next time you approach the ball, assume the correct stance with your feet and knees in position but keep your head and back straight, bend forward slightly at the waist and look straight at the ball. If you try and take a swing in this position, your left shoulder will most likely hit your chin. While keeping your eyes on the ball, raise your head slowly until your left shoulder does not hit your chin. Make sure that your head does not move from side to side by keeping your eyes fixed on the ball. Slowly go through the backswing and downswing portions of your golf swing. Do not hit the ball and do the follow through. Practice this portion of your golf swing focusing on keeping your head straight and eyes on the ball.

Another basic step that can work greatly towards improving your golf swing is to relax. I know it is easier said then done, especially when you are getting ready to put all your power into drive with an audience of either your co-workers, or better still your friends who will not let you forget it if you mess up. However, relaxing your muscles will help you to maintain the proper balance that is important to a great golf swing. Regardless of the golf clubs you use, your balance is the primary foundation of your golf swing, and the way to achieve good balance is to practice. A good way to practice improving your balance is to assume the address position with your club, relax your body and try holding it there for about 30 seconds. Does it feel like you have more weight on one foot or the other? Is one part of your body more tense then another?

Keeping your head straight and maintaining good balance are just two basic parts of a great golf swing. The exercises given above are just two ways that you can start training now to improve your golf swing. You can work on either one separately, or combine them together into one exercise. Improving your golf swing begins and ends with you. Training the muscles of your body to properly perform specific movements takes time and practice. The effort spent improving your golf swing will pay off on the course. Through exercise and practice, you will be able to slip into the proper address position and perform an effortless, powerful golf swing and feel just as if you were sliding your hand into a warm soft glove.

My golf buddies often ask me how I could hit the ball longer and my usual answer would be to max out their shoulder turn.

Insufficient shoulder turn on your backswing equates to loss of stored power as you transition to your downswing.

I suggest you try this - a good drill to ensure proper shoulder turn would be to place a club across your shoulders as well as placing a club on the ground inside your stance towards your right foot.

Set up as if you are about to hit and make a back swing.

Max shoulder turn will result when your left shoulder points directly to the club on the ground.

Practicing this move a few times at the range will give you the feel of a full shoulder turn on your backswing and you will be well on your way to maximising your distance.

You can do this drill at home just before you head for the golf course for your next round.

This way it remind me of my max shoulder turn during the actual game.

Hope you like this simple golf tip.

Happy Golfing.

Having an incorrect grip is a commonly seen problem with beginner golfer . Getting a correct and effective golf grip play an important role how a person plays golf.

Primarily, you grip on the shaft controls the face position of the clubhead at impact – open, closed or square. A square face at impact will lead to the best possibility of solidly striking the golf ball straight and long. If a person places his or her hands correctly on the club, that person will become a better player in less time than a person struggling to maintain consistency.

Another benefit of properly holding the golf club is that it allows the golfer to hinge his of her wrists properly during the full swing which is another source of hitting power. The clubhead can travel 35+ feet a over 100 mph at imapct, so a good grip on the club will allow for firm and accurate control.

Learning how to obtain a correct grip can be frustrating as in many ways it is counter-intuitive as most amateurs feel they should either chop down on the ball or help lift it into the air.

Most golfers should use either the Vardon or the interlocking grip which is the first thing many golf coaches teach to their beginning students.

Here is a simple way to check whether you are gripping your golf club correctly.

You are going to love this.

Watch this video golf lesson as Bobby Eldridge explains how to make sure that the face of your golf club comes back square at impact.

Useful golf tips provided by David Nevogt from The Simple Golf Swing

Rotating your hands Through the ball

Have you ever thought about what your hands and forearms are actually doing at the moment of impact? If not, please give this a try because it’s one of the most important parts of the swing.

Try to get into the impact position, like you are about to make solid contact with the ball. Now flip your trailing wrist like you were casting a fishing pole. This is referred to as a wrist break, and it’s not a move that you want to make in golf. So if you are trying to “flip” your hands through the ball at impact, this tip may help you understand the correct way to make this happen.

If you put a wrist watch on you’ll be able to visualize the correct moves to make. As your leading arm approaches impact the watch face should be getting close to pointing exactly down the target line, or to the flag. Now simply ROTATE the watch face so it’s pointed at the ground. With a club in your hands, you’ll see that this move makes your trailing wrist and forearm “flip” on top of your leading wrist and forearm.

You also see that this will help to “close” the face of your club nicely, that will both reduce your slice, and add distance. This is the correct move to be completing through impact.

It’s important to note that your forearms should be working together as well. Try to keep your forearms as close to each other as possible through the impact zone. If you can master this move, you’ll find increased distance and it will also do wonders for your slice.

Golf Swing Instruction – by Bobby Eldridge

I’m going to give you some great golf backswing advice that’s going to help you a lot. There are two mistakes that you can make in the backswing. And then I’m going to tell you the correct way to do it.

The first mistake is, if your shoulder doesn’t move and doesn’t turn backwards, then your arms will run into it and the shoulder will tilt up in the air. And if you do that, the golf swing will look too vertical, and you’ll hit the ground and you’ll hit a lot of shots off to the right.

On the other hand, some of you think so much of turning that you turn your right shoulder and your hips together, and the golf club gets way around inside.

So, for those of you that do this, you’ll wind up hitting a lot of tops because the club won’t swing back down.

So, let me give you some golf backswing advice. This is the correct way. After you’ve addressed the golf ball, the right shoulder starts turning backwards. And that way, this enables the golf club to swing up on the correct plane.

So, if you can move your shoulder out of the way and don’t turn your bottom much, the golf club will move up on plane as you turn away from the golf ball.

Now, I’m going to tell you the role that the knees play during the entire golf swing. The correct posture in golf, in order to improve your golf swing, is that you bend at your hips, over the bones that are on both sides of your hips.

We don’t sit in this sport. We have our knees slightly flexed, and then we bend from the hips.

In the golf swing, the knees never ever get straight in the backswing. They stay flexed the entire way.

The game of golf starts and ends right here. Good players play the sport from inside the right knee as they turn. It doesn’t go out and it doesn’t go straight. But it stays where it was at the beginning of the backswing, so as we start back the knees don’t move.

Now, the downswing: As the arms start to unwind the knees don’t move at all. The centrifugal force, the speed of the golf club swings into the ground.

As the club passes you and your left hip starts to move out of the way, then, and only then, does the right knee start to get straighter in the downswing after impact.

And the entire time, make sure that you don’t lock your left knee in the downswing. Keep it slightly flexed as you swing through. You don’t have to come all the way up and straighten it up.

I think that that might help you improve your golf swing. Think about this tip a couple of times and make sure that this is what you’re thinking of when you swing the golf club, in relation to your knees.

And thanks.
